New bus station in Lublin: beauty or comfort
A new bus station has been opened in Lublin. Its construction took more than three years and cost about 78 million euros. It has already been named the most beautiful in Poland by the media.
An innovative transport centre
The new, modern bus station in Lublin, the main component of the Joint Transport Centre, is located next to the railway station. It is planned to completely replace the old one by June 2024. During the transition period, a shuttle bus service will be provided between the two bus stations.
The innovative infrastructure facility is designed to combine urban, regional and national transport in one place. There is also an underground car park for cars and taxis, as well as a bicycle parking.
Lublin: a bus station where everyone is comfortable
Last year, even before the construction was completed, it was named the best environmental project at the annual Green Building Awards in Poland.
The roof of the new bus station in Lublin has solar panels that generate electricity and a rainwater collection system for further use. The paths are covered with special paving stones that can absorb pollutants from the air, thereby contributing to environmental cleanliness.
Modern energy-efficient technologies were also used during construction:
- walls made of glass with low thermal conductivity;
- an indoor temperature control system using heat pumps that use the earth's heat.
The designers paid special attention to inclusivity, providing convenient access for people in wheelchairs. Barrier-free movement without stairs and obstacles, specially equipped lowered windows - all this contributes to the comfort of people with disabilities.
Modern design: glass, metal and white stone
The new bus station in Lublin is not just a functional transport hub, but also a modern architectural object that blends harmoniously into the cityscape. The facade of the bus station is made of glass, metal and white stone, which makes it visually light and elegant. Large panoramic windows provide natural light and create a sense of space.
Particularly noteworthy are the columns that adorn the bus station's facade. They have an original shape that resembles tree branches. These columns not only add elegance to the building, but also visually connect it with the surrounding greenery. A spacious square with benches, green areas and public transport stops has been created in front of the bus station.
The new bus station in Lublin is an example of how to combine elegance, modern technology, environmental friendliness and care for people.
