I travelled from Minsk to Vilnius to catch a flight. The immigration and border control formalities put my catching the flight at risk. I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to the very kind driver who did everything possible, including a phone call to a bus ahead of us , and some negotiations on my behalf, to find a way to get me to the airport on time. He helped make the impossible possible. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
The overall impression of the trip was rather disappointing.
- The stickers on the bus led us to believe that it would be equipped with multimedia resources, power sockets, and comfortable seating. However, this turned out not to be the case; instead, we found standard chairs, no screens for media viewing, no restroom facilities, and only one available socket by the window.
- Regrettably, it seemed that the driver paid little attention to the comfort and well-being of the passengers. There was a lack of oversight when it came to loading and securing our belongings, which left them vulnerable to potential theft.
- Moreover, the driver failed to provide any updates or explanations for the delays we experienced after passing through various checkpoints. We were left in the dark regarding the number of remaining stops and even the border crossing itself. This lack of communication led to confusion regarding our arrival time in Vilnius.
- Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the journey was the absence of announcements for stops along the route. Several passengers disembarked at the airport, while some who were either asleep or unaware of our whereabouts encountered the inconvenience of having to make their way back to the airport station.
The worst trip ever. I thought I wouldn’t make it till Minsk. It was the hottest day in Vilnius and Minsk (30 degrees outside) and A/C on the bus was broken. It was minimum 40 degrees in the bus. When we were done on the Belarusian border I asked our driver to stop somewhere to buy a cold water, and he refused and said there is no where to stop. His t-shirt was all wet from sweat as well. I’m not sure how it was even allowed to drive the bus with broken AC during this heat and risk a life of 50 passengers. I’ve almost had a heat stroke and lost consciousness.
