Why is the bus late?

Bus delays can occur for various reasons, and it is important to understand that sometimes they can be completely unpredictable. It is impossible to influence this or speed up the process in any way. You just have to be patient and wait.

Road conditions and traffic

Weather, roadworks, or accidents can cause both short and long delays. In large cities or on popular routes, traffic can be difficult due to the large number of cars and congestion.
Drivers try to avoid such situations by choosing the best routes and using additional navigation systems. However, even with the best of care, delays can occur due to unforeseen circumstances such as accidents or road repairs.
To reduce the impact of traffic congestion on the schedule, companies are constantly improving their routes. Unfortunately, this does not always avoid delays, but drivers try to notify passengers of possible schedule changes as soon as possible.

Technical faults

A bus is just a vehicle that can develop faults that require repair. The most common problem is a punctured tyre. Drivers try to solve all problems as soon as possible. In cases where this is not possible, they ask their company to send another vehicle or transfer passengers to a partner company's bus. They may also be asked to travel to their destination on their own. In such situations, it is important to keep all receipts confirming additional expenses for the purpose of obtaining reimbursement from the carrier.

Unforeseen events

Demonstrations, security measures or other unforeseen circumstances involving road closures may also affect traffic.

Passengers

Large numbers of passengers, especially during peak hours, can cause delays in service. Delays, extended sanitary stops, and passenger boarding and alighting times can also affect the schedule.

Force majeure situations in the bus cabin

Force majeure situations in the bus interior can occur at any time and require a quick response from the driver and passengers. For example, a medical emergency (a passenger falls unconscious or their health suddenly deteriorates) or a conflict between passengers.

Delays at the border

No one can predict exactly how long it will take to cross a border. It depends on many factors, such as the intensity of passport control, the presence of problems with your bus passengers' documents, or the transport of prohibited products or goods.
Although carriers calculate border crossing times for peak or holiday periods, unforeseen circumstances can significantly increase them.
If you are planning a route with a transfer, do not rely entirely on luck, it is better to be safe and buy a ticket with at least 6-8 hours of extra time.
